Last night, the Ohio Senate passed its version of the biennial state budget, HB 153. With the House refusing to concur, the budget is headed for conference committee next week to iron out the differences.
Despite weeks of concerted testimony and advocacy, Advocates for Ohio's Future made only modest inroads in addressing the rising need for health, human service, and early care & education programs.

We now have less than three weeks before the budget is due to shore up the safety net -- to provide a life line for those struggling with hunger, mental illness, and addiction, and for those who need quality child care, home-based care, and reliable local government social services.
