Act Now: Ask your Members of Congress to protect unemployment benefits!
If Congress fails to act this holiday season, 2.2 million unemployed workers will lose their jobless benefits by February.
Over 70,000 Ohioans could lose their unemployment next month alone. Click here for more details on how Ohioans would be impacted by Congressional inaction.
Failure to continue this vital lifeline will hurt all of us and weaken our economic recovery. Why? Unemployment insurance puts money in the hands of struggling families who go out and buy necessities that keep small businesses going and keep other Americans employed.
For more context, check out this brief video update from National Priorities Project, "The Skinny on Unemployment Benefits."
Failing to continue such a critical benefit would also be a blow to unemployed workers and their families. It would lessen families’ ability to provide for their basic needs such as rent and food, and this reduced spending would force businesses to lay off additional workers.
Will you contact your members of Congress today and ask them to continue unemployment benefits this holiday season?
Time is running short. Please take action today. You can also help get your network involved by forwarding this email!
