I invite you to participate in a webinar entitled, “A New Messaging Strategy to Build Support for Human Services,” on Monday, December 10 from 3 - 4:30 p.m.
As Advocates for Ohio’s Future gears up for the next state budget, we will continue to advocate for vital health and human services that meet people’s basic needs and protect Ohio’s most vulnerable populations.
But we plan to talk about it in a new way.
If you follow the public conversation and the media presentation of the issues we care about, you will probably agree that there is plenty of opposition to “welfare” and public programs that support families and communities. Most Americans don’t think public policy can address the issue of poverty in our communities. In order to reach these people and build broader public understanding and support, we can start the conversation in a different way.
The purpose of the webinar is to explore messaging research that informs why Advocates for Ohio’s Future will be talking in a new way. We’ll also practice and share how we can talk about our work to build widespread public support and reach “beyond the choir” with our message.
We will hear from a number of messaging experts, including:
- Margy Waller is Executive Director of The Mobility Agenda and Senior Fellow at Topos Partnership. She was also a Senior Advisor on domestic policy in the Clinton-Gore White House.
- Teresa Lampl, Associate Director of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health and Family Service Providers
The staff of Advocates for Ohio’s Future will also share resources, including new talking points and fact sheets to help you talk about human services in a new way.
