Yesterday afternoon, the Ohio Supreme Court announced its decision (4-3) to uphold the Controlling Board's decision to fund Medicaid expansion.
Nearly 366,000 Ohioans are now eligible for health care coverage through Medicaid expansion beginning on January 1, 2014. We could not think of a better holiday gift for the state of Ohio!
Thank you for helping build a narrative focused on why health care expansion is so important for Ohio. Whether it was a newspaper story, a letter to the editor, a rally, a news conference, a post on Facebook or Twitter, testimony for a legislative committee, a meeting with an individual legislator, circulating a petition, or calling and emailing your lawmakers, thousands of Ohioans worked together to move Medicaid expansion forward and we found a way to win.
Everything you did mattered. Thank you for your work over the last 18 months, whether it was in the legislature, on the ballot initiative, in your community, or in the courts. Our shared efforts will strengthen families and communities across the state.

While we celebrate a big victory for Ohio, we still have work to do in 2014 to show that Medicaid expansion is good for Ohio. One of the most important things you can do now is educate your community about how people can get enrolled. Benefits.Ohio.gov was recently launched as a simple, self-service website that makes it easier for Ohioans to learn what type of health care coverage may be available to them.
Please share the good news and the information about how to get enrolled with your friends, family, and community. We need your help to let people who are eligible for health care coverage know that they can go to www.Benefits.Ohio.gov to apply.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
