Advocates for Ohio’s Future’s new Ohio Poverty Snapshot resource card highlights poverty in Ohio in a way that you can easily share with your friends, colleagues, and legislators. On one side, our new resource card shows the 2015 Federal Poverty Guidelines that are used to determine who receives benefits through government support programs. The other side shows some of the most in-demand Ohio jobs, most of which pay poverty-level wages, leaving Ohioans in need of support to sustain their families.

You’ve heard that too many Ohioans live in poverty and that strong public supports can help them get back on their feet rather than fall deeper into poverty, but getting that conversation started can be difficult. Here are ways our resource card can help:
• Print and share this resource with your friends, colleagues and your state lawmakers. If you would like a copy of the card sent to you, please send me an email with your name and mailing address.
• When you talk with people, highlight that public investments in government support programs benefit all Ohioans.
• Use the hashtag #poorwhileworking when posting about poverty in Ohio on social media to join the conversation.
