The 30-day window for public comment on the state's "Healthy Ohio" Medicaid waiver opened last Friday, April 15. If approved, the waiver would affect a million low-income Ohioans by requiring that they establish Health Savings Accounts and pay annually to maintain their Medicaid coverage.
Before submitting the waiver application to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) the state must collect public input and include it with the waiver, which could result in the waiver being denied or amended. In addition to written comments, the state will host two public hearings in two different locations. Attending a public hearing is a great opportunity for you to provide feedback on the waiver to the state and CMS.
If the proposed changes to Ohio's Medicaid system will impact you or someone you know, plan to attend a public hearing:
- Columbus Hearing:
When: Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.
Where: Ohio Department of Medicaid, 50 West Town Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215
- Cincinnati Hearing:
When: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.
Where: Mercy Health Home Office, 1701 Mercy Health Place, Rooms S144A & B, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237
We need you to show up and speak out! If you plan to attend click here and let us know.
