Today, Advocates for Ohio's Future submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to the proposed "Healthy Ohio" Medicaid waiver. The waiver would be a step backwards for Ohio, damaging the progress made toward affordable access to health care without barriers for low-income Ohioans by requiring nearly all non-disabled adults to pay monthly premiums for their coverage and imposing penalties for certain behaviors.
AOF's comments highlighted how the proposed changes to Ohio's Medicaid system would:
- reduce access to health care for Ohioans eligible for Medicaid;
- reduce positive health outcomes for Ohioans using Medicaid; and
- reduce the efficiency of administering the Medicaid system while increasing the costs of implementation.
