Act Now -- Urge Lawmakers To Shore Up Safety Net
While policy makers debate the best way to create jobs, the painful truth is that poverty in Ohio is growing. Too many of our children, families, seniors, and people with disabilities are at risk of being left behind.
The Ohio General Assembly and Governor Kasich have until the end of June to finalize the 2012-2013 state budget, so we don't have much time to make sure that the budget takes into account the basic needs of our most vulnerable neighbors. They need to hear from Ohioans who believe that any new revenue identified during the Conference Committee should be prioritized for food, shelter, behavioral health, long-term care, child care, and other human services.
Safety-net service providers and consumers don’t have paid lobbyists, so we need people like you to help us send a message to the Conference Committee and the Governor's Office.
